Sylvia Nan
Sylvia Nan (born 1975) is a self-taught artist whose creative journey is characterized by a rich development in both style and materials. Over the years, she has experimented with a variety of techniques, including pencil, India ink, acrylic paint, ecoline, acrylic ink, and various forms of mixed media. Stylistically, she has also explored a broad palette: from realistic and pointillist work to figurative, abstract, and intuitive expression.
Her current work is characterized by a colorful, intuitive, and abstract visual language, often executed on watercolor paper or mixed media paper. On watercolor paper, Sylvia prefers to work with the "wet-on-wet" technique, in which ecoline and acrylic ink blend unpredictably. She deliberately allows herself to be surprised by the shapes and colors that spontaneously emerge, gradually adapting to the demands of the work at that moment. This requires complete presence in the moment: seeing, feeling, and daring to act.
On mixed media paper, she intuitively chooses material, color, and form—driven by her feelings as an artist and what the work needs to create a powerful and harmonious whole. She knows intuitively when a piece is finished. Her creative process is inextricably linked to personal development, which is more or less visible to both herself and the viewer.
Besides her studio work, Sylvia is actively involved in the art world. She is a member of a private art club, participates in exhibitions, attends art markets, and leads intuitive painting workshops. In all her activities, she invites others to connect with their own creativity, intuition, and inner world.
